Who loves Autumn?
In my humble opinion surely Autumn has got to be THE best season of the year? The 22nd September was the first official day of this glorious season, so don’t be sad that summer has gone, and go ahead and celebrate everything that’s wonderful about Autumn.
Where shall we start? Ah…autumnal weather! Let’s be honest, the summer is invariably a massive let down. Everyone waiting for the temperatures to rise and the sun to shine down so we can get out our summer wardrobe and flip flops. Then on the rare occasion it does, we find ourselves being forced to eat under-cooked chicken on barbecues and spending an hour or two swatting the wasps away from the Pimms. Then there’s the fun of sheltering under the trees or your umbrella (if you’re truly organised for a British summer) while you try to stop the sandwiches from getting soggy at the group picnic.
Autumn is not so cruel. We know that it will be cooler with refreshing breezes and crisp air. The trees produce the most dazzling display of colour and when they finally release their golden bounty there will be piles of leaves to kick your way through and just breathe in that fresh autumnal air. Look out for the horse chestnut trees as they’ll be delivering conkers ready for the tournaments and playtimes. And my favourite thing about conkers? Keep them discreetly distributed around your rooms and they’ll keep those eight legged friends away! #arachnophobia.
Remember that word hygge? (To find out more about hygge take a look at expert Kayleigh’s blog. Well, Autumn just sums it up in one great big golden glow. No more feeling guilty about missing those summer social gatherings, shivering outside in a pub garden! Cosy Autumn nights mean staying in with your blankets and a glass of red. And the TV is so much better during this season with loads of new dramas, Bake Off and a brand new series of ‘Strictly’ to enjoy. So it’s time to curl up on the sofa, dream of the glitter ball trophy, light the fire and an aromatic candle. We love our coconut mango 100% natural soy wax candle with a beautiful bamboo lid can be engraved with a message of your choice.
Hygge celebrates warmth and cosiness but it’s not all about staying indoors, it’s also about enjoying the good things in life with good people and getting out and about and enjoying the beauty that surrounds us. We are so lucky that the UK has some stunning parks, fields and open spaces that are just perfect for a countryside walk on a misty autumnal morning. With the South Downs on our doorstep, the Suzy Q team will be heading off for some breathtaking views and looking out for pine cones to collect. The pine cone can represent many things including growth and renewal. It can also be representational of the magical properties attributed to the pine tree or trees in general such as strength and stability. Just a few of the reasons we love our pine cone necklace and it makes such a great gift.
